Yarn Diet

Almost half the year is gone and I'm really happy that I've been sticking with my yarn diet. I told myself I wouldn't buy any new yarn for this entire year.

It hasn't been easy with some of my favorite stores having sales recently. I've tempted myself a few times and even visited my local yarn shops twice so far but I haven't made a purchase yet. Some easy things to help me stay focused are

1. Not finding colors that I like for sale.
2. Picturing my current stash in my mind which reminds me that I still own plenty of yarn.

I might not make it through the entire year just because I know I like to buy a skein or two come the fall but I'll see if I can hold out.

Two Cartoons

I love watching these shows. My significant other had the idea that it would be great if I drew our cat in the same style as Regular Show.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!
After I finished that sketch, I really wanted to draw our cat in a style of another favorite show of ours.

He's adorable. :D

Sherlock

I am SHERlocked. :D

I love watching the BBC Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. I think it's ironic that I'm into watching it because I had, some time ago, illustrated a short comic titled, "The Fangirl's Tale" written by Pat Shand that was about the series. At that time, I hadn't seen a thing about the series except for some promotional material. I thought I would not like the show and yet here I am so thoroughly enjoying it (after I had randomly come across it on t.v. earlier this year.)

I think the two actors work brilliantly together. I love the fact that they are both in The Hobbit, too, and I can't wait to see the third part of that trilogy come out.

Tea time

Here's my February sketch. It's a nice sit down with some tea. The best for a cold day especially when I'm with my significant other and we're watching movies together. :)

Too Cold

When it gets really cold and pullovers, cardigans, shawls aren't cutting it... nothing does the job better than a good ol' blanket.

I might think about knitting a large wrap. Something earthy with big cables all over it.

I know last year I thought about cutting back on my knitting time... but I don't want to. I love knitting. I am, however going on a yarn diet and I plan to only knit from stash. We'll see how this ends.

Informally formal

A new sketch for the new month. As I was drawing this, a line from the Pride and Prejudice movie starring Keira Knightley kept popping up in my head. The one where it's noted that Elizabeth's hair looks "positively medieval." I like that scene a lot. The formality, informality, and character interactions.
